This term, every child took part in some fun, science experiments, as we welcomed Science Boffins into school.  This was paid for by the fantastic fundraising efforts of the Ropley Frog Marchers, who walked the circumference of the Isle of Wight!

After a whole school assembly, where Boffin Mark introduced himself, every class took part in their own workshop so that the experiments were age appropriate. 

Bumblebees, Honey Bees, Carpenter Bees and Honeycomb - Illusions Workshop

Can you trust your own eyes? Boffins bring incredible scientific illusions to amaze, confuse and trick your senses and see which young Boffins are sharp enough to figure it out. An interesting assortment examining the fine line between magic and science.

Nectar and Beekeeper — Plasma Ball and Playful Polymers Workshop

Looking at jaw dropping visual effects from the film industry, the children create Frankenstein-like plasma flashes, have electricity pass through their bodies to light a fluorescent tube, and may even get a shock on their noses! Learning about polymers, pupils will also make their own slime to take home.
