Norma's Garden
We were delighted to welcome parents - new, present and past, members of our local Ropley community, Norma's family, Councillor Charles Louisson, Josh Wright from EHDC and Bishop David to the grand opening of Norma's Garden. Norma's husband, Tim Day, opened the garden officially for us and our oldest and one of our youngest children received 2 fairies from Norma's Garden, (with a sprinkle of fairy dust from Tim) as they had agreed to relocate to our Bee Friendly garden.
Norma Day was an ardent supporter of our school for over 40 years. This includes her role as both an Early Years Learning Assistant and then as a Foundation Governor. She ran our school drama club, ran Little Bookworms, organised bi-monthly community tea events, large scale functions, the annual village Christmas Market and also supported our Year 6 children every year during SATs with daily, home-made treats. Norma was a committed supporter of St Peter's Church, as a church warden and more recently playing an integral part in the church rebuild project after it burnt down in June 2014. She regularly led worship at our school and came in to listen to the children read. She firmly believed in the positive effects of outdoor learning and our new, outdoor classroom will be a testament to that belief.
Sadly, Norma died after a short illness. Our garden is our way of remembering her.
